Passion
I have been volunteering with the Broomfield Community Foundation in some capacity since 2005. Compassion, kindness and service to others are personal core values that align with the mission of the Broomfield Community Foundation. For more than 30 years, the Foundation has been able to spark positive change and growth in our Community. The Foundation does this by connecting the financial resources of donors with non-profit organizations that support the needs of our neighbors. The best part of being a member of the Board of Directors and Grants Committee, and the reason I continue to volunteer? I get a behind-the-scenes look at all the wonderful things non-profit groups are doing in Broomfield. It’s awesome!
Professional Background
I have more than 20 years experience in business operations management. Most recently, I served as Chief Operating Officer of a Denver-based, energy tech SaaS startup. There, I led the strategic and operational aspects of the scaling start-up, including finance/ accounting, business operations, customer experience, people operations, and marketing.
Prior to the dynamic and fast-paced software startup space, I spent nearly 18 years in the financial services industry with executive leadership roles and experience in areas such as operations, human resources, compliance, marketing, strategic planning and mergers/acquisitions. Beginning in 2006, my ‘side-hustle’ was building and scaling a retail food business - Happy Bakeshop - with three business partners. Thousands of cupcakes, three locations and 12 years later, me and my partners successfully negotiated a sale of the business.
Personal Insights
I’m a Michigan native and earned an undergraduate degree from Eastern Michigan University. I earned a MBA in Finance and Accounting from Regis University. My husband, Lowell, and I have lived in Broomfield for 20 years. Outside of work, I enjoy travel, cooking and baking, mountain biking, snowboarding and hiking with our two Weimaraners.
My Superpower
My superpower is creating order out of chaos.
Favorite Broomfield Amenities/Park
One of my favorite parks in Broomfield is one I can see from my backyard - Metzger Farm Open Space. I love it because of the amenities and the history. This designated open space area is a joint venture between Broomfield and Westminster. Its designation as Open Space preserved the Metzger family home and farm outbuildings, and allowed the Cities to build trails on the 150+ acre property.
