Elaine Shannon, President

Passion

I have always been enthusiastic about the people/community I surround myself with. More evident after the recent fires, it takes an entire village to provide comfort and healing in challenging times. I love that the Community Foundation is a bridge, connecting the financial resources of donors with multiple non-profits that provide aid, growth, comfort, and safety to community members. This is why I keep coming back! I have been involved with the Foundation at various points since the early nineties, not to date myself, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Professional Background

My background is in banking. I started my career at United Bank of Broomfield in 1989 – Oh the changes I have seen! I had a great mentor, who won the first “Heart of Broomfield” award. She believed in giving back, so instilled a work ethic that allowed for community participation. Because of this, I’ve kept one foot in Broomfield my entire career. I’m currently Market President of PB&T Bank and specialize in Commercial Lending/Banking. My zip code is 80023, so I’m in Broomfield!

Personal Insights

I’ve lived in Broomfield most of my life, raising my family and working, so this is home. We’ve had so many good times! Massive 4th of July block parties (moving the fireworks East helped me out tremendously!), attending the grand opening of Flatirons Mall and meeting Rachel Welch, golf scrambles at Eagle Trace, Omni and Broadlands where we’d show up at 7am with sloshing golf bags – it was water, I swear.  So many great friends and so many great memories. Now that I’ve totally dated myself, my favorite movie is Jaws. It’s the 50th anniversary?! Watch it!

My Superpower

My superpower is to be the calm in the storm. Not sure why, but I was blessed with the ability to compartmentalize. A true asset in a time of crisis!

Favorite Broomfield Amenities/Park

My favorite park in Broomfield is the Bay – So much time spent there during the summer months trying to cool off and keep my kids entertained. They preferred to be with their friends, so it worked out for all of us! And….at the end of the season you can bring your dog for a splash in the pool!
