Passion
My passion is people, which is ironic since I'm an introvert! I love connecting people, helping others, providing resources, and making people feel good—whether that's with a genuine compliment or a laugh. The foundation gives me a place where I can do all of those things! With the support of our generous community, our board has had the privilege of providing our local nonprofits with financial support to vastly improve the lives of Broomfield residents. I am truly honored to serve alongside such fantastic people and am humbled by the hearts of my neighbors. In a world that can be so dark, the foundation gives me an opportunity to see how much good there is—especially in our very special community.
Professional Background
I graduated from Cornell University with a BS in Industrial and Labor Relations and hold certifications as a Senior Professional in Human Resources and as a Society for Human Resources Management Senior Certified Professional. I've spent the majority of my career in construction. While I am not very handy myself, I really enjoy supporting people who are. I love making businesses successful by creating work environments where people feel valued and appreciated for their contributions.
Personal Insights
My husband, Grayson, and I live in what I lovingly call the Annex of Broomfield—the Vista Highlands neighborhood. We moved there in 2018 after outgrowing our home in Westlake. We have a very fun and busy household with three kids involved in guitar, piano, sports, crafts, and baking. Our family has some pretty great traditions! We celebrate half-birthdays, put up a miniature tree for real birthdays, and on April Fool's Day, we eat dessert first and then have breakfast for dinner. My favorite tradition, though, is Surprise Christmas. As a blended family, we're not always together for Christmas, so instead, we choose a day in December to celebrate. The kids don't know ahead of time (though they love trying to guess!), and when they wake up, it's a full Christmas Day—complete with stockings, gifts from all of our family, and a special breakfast.
I made all our stockings, and every year, I add a button to each one representing something special that happened to our family during the year. The weeks after Halloween are always filled with guesses about when Surprise Christmas will be and what the button will be. On the morning of Surprise Christmas, we leave our bedroom door open and listen to our kids—now tweens and teens—get excited like little kids. The first thing they do is check out the new button. It's my favorite day of the year!
And I'd be remiss if I didn't mention my love for the Broncos!
Originally from the boonies in New York, I moved here as a hardcore Yankees fan in 2007. The Rockies weren’t really my jam, so I decided to become a Broncos fan in 2008. That’s right, I jumped on the bandwagon when they were bad. I like to say that the Broncos are like our children: we love them even when they make a bad choice... and then another bad choice... and then more bad choices...
My Superpower
Someone I deeply admire and respect recently said that I have a remarkable ability to uplift and inspire those around me. Since people are my passion, I excel at engaging others and getting them involved in the conversation or project at hand. My enthusiasm and energy can be contagious! But then I need to rest because I truly am an introvert :)
Favorite Broomfield Amenities/Park
I love our Broomfield parks, especially the hidden gems! There’s one in Westlake that you can’t see from the street, so it feels like a secret. It has a massive climbing structure and a zip line big enough for adults—I know from experience! There are also some stellar parks in the northeast corner of Broomfield. Especially if you have kids who need to burn off energy, come up for a drive and you’ll find huge webs, complex climbing structures, and even some giant swings where you can lie down and enjoy our beautiful blue Broomfield skies!
